Will's 100-mile walk to mum's favourite spot
Will’s mum, Jackie, died at St Michael’s in January
Will Maul is walking 100 miles to the Gower Peninsula next month in memory of his mum who loved visiting the beautiful coastal spot.
Jackie Maul died at St Michael’s in January, and Will says this four-day fundraiser is an opportunity to raise funds for us, and visit a place which meant so much to his mum.
“The Worms Head at Rhossili was mum’s favourite place to visit,” said Will.
“She had an infectious personality – the type that you would want to be around all the time. She was a kind, caring person, an amazing listener and close friend to so many.”
Jackie’s last few weeks were spent at St Michael’s, where there were many moments of happiness, including one afternoon when she had her first-ever tattoo – something she had wanted for a long time.
“I cannot speak highly enough of the care that was provided by St Michael’s,” added Will. “They did everything possible to help make the last few weeks comfortable for both mum and us as a family.
“The level of care was exceptional, and we were extremely lucky to have been able to have mum in the hospice and for that reason I want to give something back to them.”
Will is doing the walk with his dad, and they start from the military camp in Credenhill before crossing the Brecon Beacons on their way to the Gower Peninsula.
